1. 1959 Joined La Salle School as Science and Mathematics Teacher. Joined Sabah Indian Association. Acted as an Official in all the Sports Events in Kota Kinabalu for a number of years.
2. 1960 Started Jesselton Teachers’ Association, was elected as its Secretary and took initiative in the formation of Sandakan Teachers’ Association and Tawau Teachers’ Association.
3. 1961 Formed the Sabah Teachers’ Union and was elected as its Secretary General for four years.
4. 1962 Formed La Salle School Parliament and held the position of Speaker till 1968. Formed Sabah Indian Congress and was elected as its Secretary General till 1966. Represented S.I.C. in the Sabah Alliance Party Executive Council and General Assembly. One of the twelve Founder Members of JAYCEES in Sabah.
5. 1963 One of the 20 member delegation which represented Sabah at the National Day Celebration in Kuala Lumpur.
6. 1964 Promoted as the Senior Assistant of La Salle School. Appointed as the Secretary General of Sabah Alliance Party and held the post for two years till I resigned to join UPKO and got elected as Treasurer of UPKO Jesselton Branch.
7. 1965 Elected as Committee Member of Sabah Indian Association and got re-elected a number of times.
8. 1968 Joined Government Service and posted as Physics Teacher at Sabah College.
9. 1969 Formed the Sabah Science Teachers’ Association and was elected as its Secretary and later as its President.
10. 1970 Posted as the Education Officer in charge of Mathematics and Science Centre. As the M&S Centre was newly established 4 senior officers positions and a number of junior positions were not filled. Hence had to work every day from 7 a.m. to 11.30 p.m. including Saturdays and Sundays. Conducted numerous Training Courses for the introduction of Integrated Science, Modern Science and Modern Mathematics. Helped the Inspector of Schools to inspect the teaching of Mathematics and Science teachers. Procurement and supply of science equipment and chemicals to all the Government schools both primary and secondary was also my responsibility.
11. 1972 Elected as the Secretary of Sabah Indian Association and held the position till 1987. Joined SABATA as a Life Member.
12. 1975 Appointed as the Education Secretary of Catholic Mission and held the position till 1979.
13. 1978 Elected as the Secretary of Sabah Christian Schools Council and held the position till 1983.
14. 1982 One of the Founder Members of Cancer Society of Sabah. Became Life Member of this Society.
15. 1985 Appointed as a Director of Sabah Shipyard Sdn. Bhd.
16. 1986 Appointed as Chairman of Sabah Shipyard Sdn. Bhd. Negotiated the termination of Management Contract with A&P Appledore and saved about RM2 million for the State Government. Appointed by T.Y.T. Yang di-Pertua Negeri as a Member of State Inquiry Commission and held this position for 6 years.
17. 1987 Appointed as the Executive Chairman of Sabah Shipyard Sdn. Bhd. Elected as the President of Sabah Indian Association. Elected to the Management Committee of SABATA. Became a Life Member of Sabah Association of Senior Citizens.
18. 1988 Appointed by T.Y.T. Yang di-Pertua Negeri as a Member of the Committee for Management of Liberation Education Trust.
19. 1989 Elected as the Secretary of Cancer Society of Sabah and held this position till 1995. Member of Social Welfare Council.
20. 1992 Initiated the formation of Persatuan Kebajikan Kanak-Kanak Sabah and elected as its Protem Vice-President.
21. 1994 Elected as the President of Persatuan Kebajikan Kanak-Kanak Sabah. Became a member of Sabah Kidney Association and a Life Member of Sabah Environmental Protection Association.
22. 1995 Elected as the Vice-President of Community Based Rehabilitation Project, Kota Kinabalu. Elected as the Treasurer of Cancer Society of Sabah. Elected as the General Treasurer of SABATA. Elected as the Treasurer of SABATA KK BRANCH.
23. 1996 Elected as the President of of Persatuan Kebajikan Kanak-Kanak Sabah. Elected as the Secretary General of SABATA. Opted to be Treasurer of Persatuan Kebajikan Kanak-Kanak Sabah as no one was prepared to accept that post. Nominated as a member of Task Force 1 of Sabah IT Council.
24. 1997 Elected as the Protem President of Association for Community Based Rehabilitation Project. Nominated as the Chairman of Task Force 1 of Sabah IT Council. Initiated the creation of Homepages for the Welfare Associations. Personally created Homepages for 6 Welfare Associations free of charge. With the help of other volunteers created Homepages for another 9 Associations free of charge. Started Computer Class for the Members of Sabah Association of Senior Citizens free of charge.
25. 1998 Elected as Vice-President of Persatuan Kebajikan Kanak-Kanak Sabah. Joined Sabah Family Planning Association. Elected as the Protem Secretary of Sabah Association for Volunteer Effort
26. 1999 Elected as Assistant Secretary of Sabah Association of Senior Citizens. Elected as the Protem General Secretary of Council of Sabah Senior Citizens Associations. Elected as Secretary of SABATA KK Branch. Elected as President of SABATA
27. 2000 President of SABATA, Secretary of SABATA Kota Kinabalu Branch, Chairman of La Salle School Archives Committee, Acting Secretary General of Sabah Council of Senior Citizens Associations, Protem President of Association for Community Based Rehabilitation Project, Protem Secretary of Sabah Association for Volunteer Effort, Chairman of Task Force I of Sabah IT Council.
28. 2001 President of SABATA, Secretary of IYV Celebration Committee and organized IYV Seminar in which 400 volunteers participated. Protem President of Sabah Association of Community Based Rehabilitation Centres. Secretary of Sabah Association for Voluntary Efforts. Received the award of “A.M.N.” from Seri Paduka Baginda Yang di-Pertuan Agong.
29. 2002 Joined Lions Club of Kota Kinabalu Host. Elected as the Treasurer of Sabah Association for Volunteer Effort. Donated about RM10,000.00 worth of Science Equip to Maktab National.
30. 2003 Involved in the compiling Data Base of all the Volunteers available in Sabah and another Data Base of “Requirement of Volunteers for various Organizations and Communities in Sabah. Elected as Treasurer of SABATA Kota Kinabalu Branch. Elected as Treasurer of Council of Senior Citizens Associations in Sabah.

ACTIVITIES OF DATUK K J JOSEPH
Activities of Datuk K J Joseph in India
1. 1942 At the age of 12 took part in the QUIT INDIA agitation against the British Colonialists. Continued these activities till India got Independence in 1947.
2. 1948 Elected as the Student Leader of St. Anthony’s Secondary School, Coonoor.
3. 1950 Elected as the Secretary for the Recreation Club of Maharaja’s College, Ernakulam and Member of the College Social Service League.
4. 1952 Elected as the Member of College Union Council from the constituency of Physics Faculty. Elected as the Secretary of Physics Association, Secretary of Photographic Club and Secretary of Wireless Club.
5. 1953 Initiated the formation of Village Welfare Association at Edavanakad, where I commenced my carrier as a Teacher.
6. 1955 Initiated the formation of Village Welfare Association and Agriculture Club at Arookutty, where I was posted as the Headmaster.
7. 1956 Initiated the formation of Village Welfare Council and Young Men’s Club at Poomkavoo, Alleppey and elected as the Sports Secretary. Formed the Students’ Cooperative Society at Government Secondary School, Kalavor and acted as its Advisor. Elected as the Local Representative of Graduate Teachers’ Union.
8. 1957 Elected as the Deputy Leader of Training College Students’ Action Council. Also elected as the Leader of the Volunteers of Anti-Communist Front in my village.
